“Fully booked” – that was the information BVL Hamburg had to communicate just some days after the announcement of the event “Blockchain: introduction for the transport logistics”. Accordingly the Digital Hub Logistics Hamburg (the CHAINSTEP team is located here as well) was quite crowded on January 18, 2018. Representatives from a wide range of companies from the transportation and logistics areas attended at the event. We were especially pleased that we could welcome prominent guests at our “hub”: Prof. Peer Witten, long year chairman of the BVL and the face of the “Logistik-Initiative Hamburg”, and Harald Ehren, chief editor of DVZ, attended the meeting.
Just some days before MAERSK and IBM announced to set up a joint venture to mutually develop a cloud solution to digitise global trade based on blockchain technologies and to offer a “world-wide eco system for the shipping industry” (here you find a article on DVZ on this topic). With this background it was logical that after the presentation (you find it below or here on Slideshare) an intensive discussion started on the consequences of this initiative for the transport logistics branch.
